I joined Selby Locality Board because I am deeply passionate about the well-being and development of young children in our community. I firmly believe that early childhood isa critical phase that lays the foundation for a child’s future success and happiness
Karen O'Donnell
I have worked for North Yorkshire for virtually all my career, currently I am the Headteacher at Athelstan Community Primary School in Sherburn in Elmet where I have been head for twenty-one years, Athelstan is a large two from entry primary taking children from two years old. Previously I was head for six years in a small village primary school in North Yorkshire. I also taught in Sherburn, prior to headship, so I now find I am teaching the children of children, but it also means that I know this community and area very well.

I am passionate about making a difference for all the pupils in our school and the Selby community. Emma Nutall
Anouska Gardner
I am proud to be able to contribute my 20 years experience in education to the Selby Locality Board.
During my career I have had the privilege of working across both mainstream and alternative provision, supporting schools across a multi-academy Trust as part of the central team, transforming a school to take it out of special measures, and opening a Targeted Mainstream Provision to support students with SEND to access mainstream education.
My educational philosophy centres on the belief that all children deserve the very best educational provision, regardless of their background or ability, and as leaders of education we have a duty to improve the lives of young people whenever we can.
Gareth Morton
Rachel Ray
I have worked in education for over 30 years now, in London, East Riding, York and for the last 12 years, leading schools in North Yorkshire. I am currently proud to be Headteacher of Selby Abbey CE Primary School. My background as a SENCO means I am passionate about working together in order to ensure we can maximise opportunities and outcomes for all pupils, including and especially those, with SEND.
