Since becoming a headteacher, I’ve seen the impact that genuine, positive and productive collaboration can have in overcoming the challenges of education. Working in a school comprised of 100% military children offers real insight into the difficulties these pupils face. Pastoral care, SEMH and wellbeing undergird our school’s approach to achievement both personally and academically – and meeting these needs is vital at a wider locality level.

The wellbeing and progress of our pupils at The Dales School relies upon strong relationships with families, and effective collaboration and partnerships with our multi-disciplinary stakeholders, and it is this ethos that has led to my total commitment participation in the work of the Locality Board. I firmly believe that we are stronger if we work well together.

Since starting work in the Early Years sector over 20 years ago I have developed a passion for making sure that all children get the best start in life. Being part of the locality board enables me to share my knowledge and experience, to help get the support Early Years providers needs to help their children thrive.

It is through effective partnership working between settings in the HamRich area that we will ensure the educational provision for children and young people will be the best it can be. My role and that of all the members of the Board is to work with the Local Authority to identify area specific needs, facilitate that collaboration, and support the sharing of best practice, and the deployment of expert practitioners to address that need.
