My role as Selby Locality Board Inclusion Lead is varied, with overall aims of supporting smoother transitions, helping to reduce exclusions and improving attendance. My work complements the other services provided by North Yorkshire Council. I started work in Sept 2024 and will be in post until July 2026.
Below are the things I have worked on so far;
-
Relational Approach Network for Selby locality: where schools can meet regularly to support one another in developing their whole school relational approach.
-
‘A day in the life of a Year 7’: primary school students can attend a secondary school for a day and follow a Year 7.
-
Transition Networking meeting: bringing together Transition Leads, SENCos and teachers to develop communication.
-
Ambition Hub: This program, held one day a month for six months, is for Year 6 to Year 8 students. It promotes achievement, resilience, and teamwork through Outdoor Adventurous Activities, helping students develop new skills and positive mindsets.
-
Attendance project working in partnership with NHS’s ‘Integrated Neighbourhood Team’ with specific schools.
I am always keen to hear from settings and if you would like to get in touch then please send me an email at sj@selbyhigh.co.uk.
